the wonder-loom...

The Wonder-Loom circa 1977.
I think this will be a great beginner's craft for Ella. We haven't tried it yet, but it looks like you just wrap yarn back and forth around the loom, to create some nice 70's hot pads, shawls and wall hangings. It's all about the process. Who knows we might actually like something that we make.A couple of other fun items. So excited about this cutting guide. I'm not even sure what it is called but I remember my grandma used to use hers all the time to cut fabric. I love my rotary cutter but my self healing mat is on the small side. I'm excited to have something a little larger.

fulfilling a request

Here is a collection of some vintage sheets and new fabric that I have been working on to fulfil a request made way back at the beginning of this year.
Cutting, sewing and piecing together.
This project has been made in what seems like 10 minute increments here and there over the last week.
Almost finished!

Leaps & Bounds

Improving by leaps and bounds.Just a couple of months ago this little miss would cry if she got a drop of water in her face.
My, how things can change!
These two experienced the thrill of jumping off the diving board at nana and papa's house and it was over. They couldn't get out of the water fast enough to jump again.
Life is good!

firefighters for a day

I have a large family. I mean really big, and I love it. I think about half of our family has summer birthdays, so we have been celebrating a lot lately. The kids love it also...jumpers, cake, pinatas, candy, toys, swimming, games...a kid's dream. This past weekend they got to be firefighters for the day.
Julian with the big birthday boy.
A real firetruck to take them on a ride.

A good time was had by all.

renegades at the Renegade

HA HA, kind of hard to pass up.
Hit the Renegade Craft Fair this weekend and had so much fun. It was a bit hot, but I was a little distracted by all of the creativity around me to be bothered too much. I was also so distracted that I forgot to even take any pictures until about the last aisle.
random nicole
Love all of her randomness and colors.
Chantal de Felice
Not only is her art and jewelery beautiful, but seriously these displays are amazing.
Missed out on pictures of a lot of really great talents, but at least I got a picture of this. HA!
Rebe
I still need one of these dresses. Love them!
I was a little giddy.
Can you tell?
Got to meet Ruby from cakies, which was a treat. Love her blog, creativity and her cute little family. One of those daily reads even when I only have a minute. Even nicer in person than I had already anticipated.
Bye Renegade, see you next year.
This is what we do when we don't have the kids. We also got to walk down the street holding hands. Why does that seem so difficult when the kids are around?
Thanks for accompanying me, Andy!!!!

summer days

Our summer days consist of: *plenty of beach days*
*a whole lotta swimming and big improvements at swim lesson*
*dreaming of camping trips that seem so far away*
*yummy summer meals*
(our table isn't always set so nicely, but when it is I like to take pictures)
*finding time to hang out with my machine and some pretty fabric*
*trips to the library and reading lots of books*
*too many really late nights way past bedtime*
*and beautiful summer sunsets*
