super man and pixie dust...

This boy is so entertaining to observe when he is playing by himself.
Most of the time he wants me right next to him playing, which is not always easy when I have things that need to get done.  On those rare occasions when I can just listen and watch, I find myself constantly giggling.

Here are a couple of things I heard:

(talking to superman)'I need to sprinkle more pixie dust on you so you can fly faster'
(a minute later) 'I can still fly faster than you'

'you need to crawl because you are an army man and you can't walk'
His obsessions with guns is a little scary, but this picture makes me laugh...he has two holsters on his belt with guns(which he put on all by himself)and he is loading another gun.
(after crashing superman into the garage door) 'he probably has a headache now' he says with a little giggle.

Fall Mini Sessions!!!

I am beyond excited!!!
My friend Anji asked me to shoot this fall mini event with her.  She is a-mazing and I have so much to learn from her.  I mean, come on, look at this beautiful shot she got.  So this is a great opportunity, if you are in the area, to get some great pictures of you and your family...or just the kids...the kids in costumes...or forget the kids and just get great pictures of you and your main squeeze.

This is a good time to think ahead about getting Christmas card pictures out of the way so your holidays can be a little less cluttered.
This is a great deal because you will have two photographers clickin' away...bonus!!

You can contact Anji with her info above or email me.

shooting on a bridge

this past weekend my friend and i set up a little shoot for this super duper cute family.
this is my little (okay, younger) brother, his beautiful wife and the littles.  they really are so cute.  i'm not just saying that because they are my family, they are such a genuinely sweet family.  i think they were just saying they have been together more years than they have been apart.  wow, that's really hard to put into words and actually make sense.  basically they started dating when they were about five...just about.
i love this one.
i missed the shot when my nephew was holding my brother's hand but i still really like the lighting and the way it turned out.
this little rascal is just too cute.  she was getting tired of us...
but a couple of skittles helped out.
i have realized that editing pictures is really difficult for me.  i'm slow.  i have a hard time deciding when to stop.  i really just need to buy the totally rad actions.  i think it would speed everything up for me and i would be able to get a little more consistency with the feel of the pictures.  i think it is harder editing pictures for other people.  i love the vintage look of photographs, but i know that is not for everyone.  i still went ahead and played with this one.
while i was at it i played with a couple of my own.  ahh, this looks so peaceful...so weird since this was the one minute of the whole afternoon that they were actually sitting still.  i think the next minute they were crawling on my head and tackling me.
such a fun afternoon!

christmas in dixie stockings

last week my friend and i dusted off our sewing machines and cranked out a couple of christmas stockings for the christmas in dixie project for craft hope.  i have not been sewing much lately and i felt a little rusty.
we were both a little rusty.
we were sewing things on backwards and cutting holes in the stockings...at least we were able to laugh at ourselves.  don't worry we fixed all of our mistakes.

we were able to get 8 done!!
julian and saylor were so good.  i really can't believe we were able to sew as long as we did.  we did have some much needed outdoor time after.
saylor finished out the day with a little yoga.
yea, for a productive day!!!

going away party...

last week we said bye bye to the roadster.

this was a two year project for andy, building it literally from pieces...
finding one part here and one part there and even making parts that couldn't be found.
seriously, this isn't something that was ordered from a catalogue and pieced together, these are parts from the thirties (and forties..i think.  i promise i listen andy i just have a bad memory) that have a history and have now converged into one car.
pretty amazing!!
i am so proud of him and what an amazing car he built...

the car was scheduled for pick- up last week and we knew we wanted a couple of pictures before it went.  i really wanted some pictures in the canyon, but andy was a little nervous about driving it way out there.
i asked ella to go change out of her uniform from school and guess what she decided to wear?.. and guess who wanted to wear his little outfit also???

these guys are way too much...i guess it is kind of fitting since the roadster is headed for japan.  i know these are not japanese clothes...or are they?... i have no idea.  i think they are chinese, anyway they are somewhat fitting.
after some silly pictures, it was time to get the party started...this was our goodbye party after all.
we had to get this picture of 'the sister' with the car.

this is a '31 roadster which is also known as 'your sister's car'.

bye bye roadster have fun in japan!!!
