Partying Star Wars Style

We were invited to a Star Wars costume party this past weekend.  We are not a Star Wars family...at all.  I saw the original when I was a kid back in what, the early 80's?...and that was the end of Star Wars for me.  Sadly my kids have never even seen Star Wars and they have no idea who any of the characters are.  Lucky for me Ashley Ann made Halloween Star Wars costumes for all of her family last year.  I showed my kids the pictures on her post about the costumes and let them pick which costumes they wanted.  Ella wanted to be the little girl with the green ears (Yoda) and Julian picked the man with the beard (Obi-Wan Kenobi).
I had planned on making the costumes all week but that didn't happen.  I almost made them the night before the party, but I was really tired.  For those who don't know me, I can procrastinate like no other.  I'm really good at it.  I work much better under pressure.  How do yo think I got through college?  Back to costumes.  So the morning of the party I got to work.  Luckily they were super easy to make.  I had all supplies on hand so it didn't cost anything.  Yay!  I dug up some old curtain panels that I kept just in case I ever had to make Star Wars costumes and Andy let me cut up one of his old green T-shirts.  I used this reference that Ashley used to make the jedi robes.
For some reason Julian's hood came out very peaked and I was afraid it could be confused with another type of pointy hooded robe but nobody said anything.  Maybe it was because he only wore it for about 5 minutes.  I guess a robe and a bounce house don't blend too well.
After that he looked like this and everyone was wondering why the little boy was sportin' a beard at the Star Wars party...random.
Well, we all had a lot of fun at the party.  I am making a promise to myself to make costumes before the day they are to be worn in the future.

Happy Birthday again Elijah!!

  3. The one labeled as "Princess Leia" I believe is actually Queen Amidala and the "R2D2" looks like Jango Fett
