Recipe? Well I don't know if you could really call it a recipe, maybe more of a how-to-make brown sugar. This was discovered in a pinch when I ran out of brown sugar and didn't want to drive to the store. I probably won't ever buy brown sugar again because this is just way too easy and this is the best little activity to keep little hands busy for about ten to fifteen minutes. Trust me, you will have little helpers volunteering all over the place.
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp molasses
Mix
You could add a little more molasses for dark brown sugar or a little less for light brown. I suppose you could use a food processor to mix this, but then that takes all the fun out of it and then you still have the food processor to wash. Just get dirty and mix it with your God given tools until it is well blended...I'm talking about your hands in case anyone was confused.
Store in an air tight jar and tell your little helpers to go outside and clean their hands. No further instruction is needed, they will instinctively know how to get all of that yummy sugar off of their hands.
Watch out though because if you get busy making oatmeal cookies and forget to tell them to wash their hands with soap and water after the initial cleaning, you will later find sticky door knobs and toys all over the place.
